Things (besides chocolate) to Improve Your Life
Once a month, spoil yourself. Plan this immediately and put it down on your calendar. This can be as elaborate or as simple as you choose. The idea is to give yourself a break and savor life. Most of us are way too hard on ourselves.
Plan three adventures you can have by the end of the year. Get out of your rut – plan things that intrigue and excite you. They don’t have to be expensive, but you do have to plan them now. Your life is as big and as exciting as you make it!
Stop thinking that others will change. Assume they won’t and change yourself. You’ll be much happier. While you’re at it, don’t make others responsible for your happiness. Your happiness is up to you, not them. Conduct a relationship analysis – who gets to stay in your fabulous life and who needs to go?
Stop comparing yourself to others. This will only make you miserable – there will always be someone skinner, younger, or richer. Instead celebrate when you improve on something that’s important to you.
Think about when you were happiest in the past. What were you doing? Schedule more of it now for the rest of the year. If you don’t plan for it, it won’t happen.
Think about what made you the unhappiest in the past. Working too much? Spending time with negative people? Trying to control things you can’t? Stop doing it.
Know thyself. The secret to a great life is doing more of what you love, less of what you loath, with people who bring you joy not pain. The only way to do this is by paying attention to what works for you – and this means trying new things, going to new places, eating new foods (different chocolates). Explore who YOU are – discovering yourself is what makes the journey through life so exciting.
